Many reefers on a fresh set up use PRIME I know of a knowledgeable reefer who set up a tank in one day stocked it and only added prime = 0 losses. He was in a position to replace everything if it went south, but it did not. Again a very knowledgeable reefer who monitored the tank and...- Limey

HUGE SHOUT OUT TO LukeL He came by tonight and set up the KHG unit and we are operational, surprisingly my KH is 7.5 at the moment. So let's see once it settles in after a couple days. Best Rookie/newbie goof up....
Learning from peoples mistakes is the best way to navigate this hobby, BUT!! remember what works for me may not work for you! Take all the advise you can from as many reefers as possible and then determine for yourself what will work the best for you and your set up. Many, many, opinions out...- Limey

Blue Barrel source of phosphates?
I must say I was discussing my high Phosphate levels with Luke prior to this thread. My concern was the discoloration around the sides of the blue barrel I think is a form of calcuim precipitation. I do sometimes (well most of the time) mix and leave the salt mixing for a week in the barrel...- Limey

Feedback on timers
I used the same timers in the past Andrew 4 x 4 timed, but found they only lasted a couple years as I feel the moisture probably corroded them inside.
